Have you ever seen a totally white beach? Sounds impossible but such a white beach does really exist!
On the east cost of the Greek island Thassos, lies one of the most impressive and extraordinary beaches, the Marble beach.
In the past it was just an ordinary pretty secluded bay but thanks to quarry that extracts marble just above the beach this beach became exotic. The sand mixed with the marble pebbles and the coastline became totally white and impressive. With it’s stunning white marble sand, green scenery and crystal clear turquoise water you could be forgiven for thinking you are in a Tropical Island.
Getting to Marble beach will not be very easy, you’ll have to drive about 4 km of dirt and very dusty road. It’s about 20 minutes drive from Makryamos.
Your car will need a good wash but when you get there you will be rewarded with the totally amazing view. It will take your breath away!
Marble beach, also known as Saliara Beach, is recommended for both families and young people. Since the beach is quite small during a peak season it might be very crowded.
There is a lovely beach bar with sunbeds where you can relax, enjoy music and have refreshing drinks or coffee. If you get hungry the beach bar offers a variety of food too.
I found a youtube video that will help you find the way to the Marble Beach in case you get lost.

Totally white beaches? Yes, Caribbean. But not with marble(s). 🙂
