Dakos is very popular in Crete but also all over Greece. It’s surprisingly simple and incredibly delicious . You are going to seriously love this salad 🙂
serves: 4
Ingredients
2 barley rusks (a dry cracker-like bread)
2 large tomatoes
250 g feta cheese, cubed
10 -12 black olives
4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
Onion or spring onion, capers or caper berries are often added as well.
Directions
- Put the rusks just for a second under running water. Place them at the bottom of a bowl.
- Cut the tomatoes in cubes and reserve their juice. Add the tomato cubes and the juice over the rusks. Add the feta cheese and the olives. (Onion or spring onion, capers or caper berries are often added as well.)
- Sprinkle the salad with olive oil and oregano.
- Let it stand for 10-15 minutes and…..enjoy!
