The Greek island Tinos, situated in the Aegean Sea, is a very popular and special place for many reasons. First of all, it is known for its marvelous church of Virgin Mary. That’s why Tinos is popular among old people. I visited Tinos recently and I must admit that I was so amazed. What I didn’t expect is the fact that Tinos is one of the favorite destinations for young guys, too. But, as soon as I saw its beautiful beaches, ornamented villages, attractive night places, and totally chic slash delicious food, I changed my mind. I especially liked the Tinos Surf Lessons beach bar. When I read that ” The Guardian” has checked the Tinos Surf Lessons beach bar as one of the top 10 beach bars in Greece, I wasn’t surprised at all. And now I’m going to tell you why.
Tinos Surf Lessons beach bar is located 15 km away from Tinos main town, at Kolympithra beach.
Kolymbithra is definitely the best beach in Tinos and Tinos Surf Lessons beach bar makes it even more special. A small yellow camper van converted into a bar, the wooden tables and chairs and umbrellas shaped as mushrooms and woven by local basket-makers make this small beach bar unique. When I first saw it, I couldn’t keep away from exclaiming one big “Wow!” I’m pretty sure that I was wowing for a long time.
Kolympithra beach, also known as Mikri & Megali Ammos, has two beaches. Both are extremely beautiful and there aren’t strong winds. They have an amazing environment.
Love these mushroom shaped umbrellas!
The small beach on the left part, where is Tinos Surf Lessons beach bar, is quite cosmopolitan and crowded.
The bar offers coffee, drinks, cocktails and very good fast food. Its burgers are just yummy.
On the right part there is a tavern and a couple of guestrooms within a short walking distance. The large beach is ideal for those who want to enjoy a peaceful swimming away from the noisy crowds. Both beaches have a unique environment, suitable for swimming and sunbathing. The time I was there a really nice live beach party of Greek band locomondo was organized there. It was so fun!
The Tinos surf lessons project was started by local surfer John Vidalis.
This is one of the first projects in Greece and the first in the Cyclades. The Tinos offers you surf tuition, surfboard rentals for every level, and also bodyboard, kayak, canoe, and skimboard rentals.
I was decided to start surfing lessons but, unfortunately, the only thing I did, was lying on the beach, drinking and eating. So now I have to postpone it until the next summer. But, OMG, it was so worthful!
