Santorini known for its black volcanic soil beaches, whitewashed buildings and dramatic views, has been named the top European island destination and the fifth internationally, according to TripAdvisor tour operator’s annual list in which Greek islands took four of the slots, joined by Cephalonia, Naxos, and Zakynthos.

The TripAdvisor΄s list of the Europe΄s best islands was based on millions of reviews and ratings by international tourists on the travel website over the past year.
No surprises here, because anyone who has visited the island of Santorini can totally agree. Famous for its unique landscape of gleaming white churches and sparkling blue seas, Santorini is one of the most photographed parts of Greece.
Fira, Imerovigli or Oia, the towns on the cliff are very beautiful and full of little cafes, shops and places of interest. There is a bus that goes to the beaches everyday, and it is much better to be in the towns in the evening and on the beaches during the day. If you stay in Monolithos you will have more peace and quiet.
Santorini is almost tailor-made for those who’ve just said, “I do.” Honeymooners can enjoy lounging on red-and-black sand beaches or visiting the island’s wineries.
Santorini provides a gentle refuge with its geological morphology. Here you will find towering cliffs overlooking the deepest levels of surrounding sea and vast beaches with one of the best sunsets.
