Pozar Thermal Baths- A revitalisation of the senses in the birthplace of Alexander the Great

Pozar, an earthly paradise just 10 km from Aridaia and 100 km from Thessaloniki,  is one of the most therapeutic spas in Greece, with many amenities and lovely scenery.

on the right side the water is hot and on the left side is cold, even if the weather was hot I didn’t dare to swim in the cold water

Imagine yourself in a pool amidst precipice rocks, natural waterfalls, and wild vegetation. Breathtaking!

Enjoy the soothing warmth of the water (37⁰C) and immerse yourself into natural therapeutic waters as Alexander the Great did over 2.500 years ago!

Enjoying our therapeutic thermal bath. Very relaxing.

The verdant gorge of the water stream of Áyios Nikólaos (Saint Nicolas) is locally known as Thermopótamos (= hot river).

Pozar Thermal Bath’s facilities

At the foot of Kaimaktsalan Mountain, the thermal baths facilities of Pózar comprise 48 individual baths, 6 indoor pools, the outdoor pool (12x25m) hamams, jacuzzi and spa services. Recommended for rheumatic, dermatological, gynecological, and respiratory and circulatory system conditions! The hot springs of Pózar are beneficiary for everybody’s health and well-being. You can be benefited not just while bathing in them, but also when drinking their water. Still, that’s just half as natural and healthy as you can go Loutra Pozar (Pozar baths) is one of the finest Greek destinations for excursions or vacations during all 4 seasons.

The value of local sources seems to have appreciated since Roman years already. However,  the first analysis of water and certified therapeutic properties were made in the middle of the last century were.

Dark Forest

Take a walk in the nearby Dark Forest, one of the most beautiful forests in Greece.  It owes its name to the density of the trees that let no sunlight reach the ground. Tradition has it that Alexander the Great had had timber cut here for the fearful weapon of the Macedonian army, the 6m long spear called “sárissa”. Before enjoying the thermal spa we had walked for 1 hour in the lovely gorge of the “Thermopotamos” river. The variety of flora is amazing. We saw lots of cold-water cataracts and as close as one meter the hot water was springing up!  There is also a climbing area for rope climbing fans. Everything at the foot of Kaimaktsalan or Vorras mountain. Lovely nature.

The large supply of the (650 cubic meters/hour) creates optimal conditions for operating the spa area. The outdoor pool and “ponds” are naturally formed in the bed of Thermopotamou, enabling bathe in a stunning natural backdrop. on the top! beautiful but scary
