Guide to London Street Art Tours

London is unique among British cities. Artists are here in huge numbers, and a culture of endless experimentation and collaboration is rife. One of the most visible manifestations of this is the phenomenon of street art. Take a stroll around some of the cultural hotspots in places like Camden, and you’re sure to see plenty of it. But if you want a truly exhaustive look at this form of outdoor expression, you might instead go on a guided tour.

So, what are the options?

This organisation offers a range of walking tours for the public to enjoy each week. You’ll want to book and pay in advance, before being directed to the meeting point on the day. There are tours through Shoreditch, which is among the most popular places in the world for travelling street artists. It’s the best bet if you’re new to the London street art scene, and need an introduction.

If you’d prefer to venture a little further from the beaten path, then you might instead consider a tour of Hackney Wick, or Dulwich. The latter enjoys direct train connections to Central London, making it accessible from across the city.

For some, a private tour might make the most sense. This might match with stag and hen celebrations, or with birthday parties. They’re available in English, French, Italian and Spanish.

Alternative LDN

This is a bespoke private tour of the city’s most significant cultural and creative centres, operated from a double-decker bus. It’s guided by artists, and there’s a workshop studio component which will see everyone given a chance to create some artwork of their own.

Shoreditch Street Art Tours

If you’re determined to see what Shoreditch has to offer, then you might alternatively take a look at Street Art Tours, which are run by local photographer and commentator Dave. This is a walking tour, so be sure that you’re wearing comfortable, supportive footwear.

Strawberry Tours Street Art and Graffiti

This little tour will take you through the famous Brick Lane, and the Truman Brewery, which is something of an epicentre for creativity in the city. There’s also a secret outdoor museum, whose location will change every week.

The best street art has the power to surprise and amaze – and this particular tour will help to bring you into contact with some of the best of it.
