The Most Visited National Park in Europe. Mount Teide, Tenerife, Canary Islands.

El Teide national park, centered on Mount Teide is the highest mountain of Spain (3,718 metres high) and Europe’s most visited tourist attraction.

The national park  was enlisted as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2007.

I was thrilled to hear by locals that Planet of the Apes and Star Wars were filmed in the surreal landscape of Teide National Park. So I posed  for the photo believing I was in the scene of Star Wars but unfortunately that was just a myth.

The original Planet of the Apes (1968) was filmed entirely in the United States and Star Wars had filming locations in Tunisia, Guatemala and the US but Tenerife never hosted men in astronaut helmets or ape suits, except at Carnaval.

However, the dramatic scenery of Teide has been featured in films such as One Million Years B.C. (1966), Intacto (2002), Clash of the Titans (2010) and Wrath of the Titans (2012).

A teleferic is taking you to the peak of the Teide where you can admire the stunning view and take some amazing photos. At 3,718m, sitting literally above the clouds you have the feeling you can reach the sky

I visited Tenerife in September but a local told me the best time to be in Tenerife is in winter time. The weather is hot and sunny and while you sunbath at the beach you can enjoy the snowy mount Teide. Must be breathtaking!
