White desert on the……… planet Earth!

The famous White Sands National Monument in New Mexico “highlights” with the first glimpse of the diversity! 275 square miles of fine white sand, impressive undulating dunes, desert plants and rare species make up an alien landscape on planet Earth.

The fascinating history and geography of the region is lost forever when the conquistador Hernando de Luna wandered in the desert for days, searching his beloved Manuela. Today, according to local legends, only the ghost can be seen at night!

The white desert has the highest level of gypsum crystals, and also has one of the highest gypsum dunes, up to 1.2 m in the middle of the day during the summer, the temperature reaches 38 degrees Celsius, at which white sand acquires a special glow.

Once again the sun sets behind the mountains of St. Andrew, the entire desert becomes a strange pink color. More than 210 species of birds, 44 species of mammals and 26 different reptiles and insects make up the stunning scenery.

Lizards, antelopes, tortoises, lynx and kangaroos running on the sand, leaving fingerprints everywhere, often making visitors wonder whether they are terrestrial or extraterrestrial … ground!

In one part of the desert, the local authorities have created an impressive museum where visitors can learn more details about the history of the area, the flora and fauna and to see stunning images of the desert from the past.
