Rome part5: Nightlife places & clubs

In Rome, the city itself is the party. You can find clubs, and bars in every corner and alley, though there are some areas that are more concentrated and famous than others.
The main centro storico nightlife districts are listed below.

1. Monte Testaccio

Are you the type of person who likes to dance the night away?  The biggest concentration of nightclubs lies in the Testaccio district, where a plethora of small venues offer dancing and concerts. Akab and L’Alibi are two of the most popular dance clubs in the area.  The gay scene is alive and kicking and accounts for many of the more avant-garde night spots.

L’Alibi, which has an intimate setting in the Testaccio sector away from the heart of Rome, is a year-round stop on many a gay man’s agenda. The crowd tends to be mixed: Roman and international, straight and gay, male and female. One room has a dance floor. L’Alibi is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11pm to 5am. The music ranges is a mix of house, soul, dance and disco music

We went to  L’ Alibi club on Wednesday, It was fun but I prefer the the wine-bars and cafés lying between Campo de’ Fiori, Piazza Navona and Via della Pace.

2. Via della Pace and surrounding streets
The beautiful Piazza Navona and Via della Pace area are famous for al lot of alleys full of very chic bars and wine bars adored by Romans.

3. Gilda  which is located in Piazza di Spagna, is considered to be one of the best night clubs in Rome but it’s  mostly for people under 25 yrs old. The music was typical commercial disco & hip.
I think there are greater places in Rome like Art Cafe for example.

4. Art cafe. Notoriously one of the busiest clubs in Rome and my favorite one. Located in the underground parking garage of Villa Borghese is one of Rome‘s most famous fashionable discoteche. The atmostpehere is hot, lively and happening. The club is huge and features spacious dance floors.

5,Campo de’ Fiori
A lot of young Romans come to enjoy their drinks and meet great number of tourists that are very frequent here. Thanks to many American schools and colleges in this zone, Campo de’ Fiori is mostly populated by foreign students. There are many wine bars, pizzerias and entertaining pubs to visit in this area.

6. Trastevere
Trastevere, one of the most authentic Romans areas, in years became a very international meeting place with a lot of bars, caffetterias, restaurants. If you’d like to taste a good wine or have an aperitif, this artistic, bohemian part of the Eternal city is a right place to visit.

  • Great post to read - I am planning a trip to Italy in 2 years (sadly, yes, this long from now because I'm poor lmao).

  • Hi moco-choco, you have an interesting blob!
You should also try Milano, in Italy. Great city for tourism, art, architecture, history, cool places for eating and drinking, shopping, fashion, nightlife, soccer! I am from Milano (so maybe I'm not fully objective) and I really recommend a visit!
By the way, thanks for your "like" to my (crap) post on my poor blog (geoch1.wordpress.com)!
