The Burj Al Arab (“Tower of the Arabs”) is a luxury hotel in Dubai (the world’s only self titled 7star hotel), United Arab Emirates .
The architect Tom Wright said “The client wanted a building that would become an iconic or symbolic statement for Dubai; this is very similar to Sydney with its Opera House, London with Big Ben, or Paris with the Eiffel Tower. It needed to be a building that would become synonymous with the name of the country.”
The building opened in December 1999 .
The interior color scheme of royal blue and gold is reminiscent of the Mediterranean art and culture, drawing inspiration from the environment of clear oceans and golden sands dunes.
